Can't move desktop items

the Items on my desktop can't be moved. (all items) I can drag and drop into a file, simply can't place them where I want. I have a MacBook Pro and OS is Ventura.

Stacking files and folders on desktop Files and folders stacks on top of each other in the top right corner when moved or just created. And I've tried multiple suggestions by clicking 'Snap to Grid', sorting by whatever, and going into 'Show View Options' as well. It only gets fixed momentarily and the problem comes back. It's quite annoying to be on the Macbook Pro, when it does this all the time. And it's been several updates since it first started. And the issue hasn't been resolved yet.

iMac Desktop I am unable to move the folders or other icons on my desktop. When I try to move a folder it bounces back. Also, when I organized my folders, i had them on the left side. Now they are on the right side and immovable. Actually my computer is iMac , 27 in, 2017. I am running version 11.6.5 and the OS Big Sur.

moving files in Mac finder seriously apple? why does it have to be such a hassle moving files in finder? is it so difficult to have a "move to" option on the right click? dragging and dropping is not convenient all the time. the way to move files is slow, too many folders to open before you finally get to where you want to drop the file and if in the way the cursor moves out the window to the desktop then it goes all the way back to the first folder you were in. If anyone has any recommendations to make this experience at least a little more seamlessly, please let me know, thanks.

Seems two different d̶i̶s̶t̶r̶i̶b̶u̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ descriptions of what the issue is...(?)

Control click on the Desktop make some changes.... Stacks? Sort? View Options? Clean Up By?
