Atv 4k 3rd gen Atmos issue

I have a 2 year old lg tv that is eArc compatible, a sonos arc and Apple TV 4K 3rd generation. I plugged my Sonos arc into my arc HDMI port on my tv and my Apple TV into the other HDMI on my tv. No matter the app or purchased ITunes movie the best sound I get is stereo pcm. If I watch from an app directly from my tv I get Dolby Atmos or whatever the best sound that is offered. I have read all the forums and articles and gone through every setting on my tv and Apple TV and all I get off of Apple TV shows and movies is stereo pcm. What do I have to do to get Atmos with the setup I have when streaming through the Apple TV?

Hi Lake_life4ever,

The recommended configuration for connecting an Apple TV to a sound bar is outlined at Set up Dolby Atmos or surround sound on Apple TV with a sound bar or AV receiver:

"Make sure that you connect your Apple TV 4K directly to the HDMI input on your sound bar or AV receiver with an HDMI cable. Most televisions don't support Dolby Atmos pass-through to sound bars and receivers.*
Plug one end of an HDMI cable into the HDMI output on your sound bar or AV receiver. Then plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI input on your television"

and:

"Apple TV 4K uses a high bandwidth form of Dolby Atmos that doesn’t work over ARC connections."

If your sound bar does not offer input HDMI, you may need to consult with your TV manufacturer to determine if it supports Dolby Atmost pass-through and if so how to configure that in the TV itself.
