Using Thunderbolt bridge in Ventura

I had it already working earlier, I think - but now, when I connect my two Macs (iMac 2019, Ventura, fully updated) and my MacBook Pro (M1 Pro, 2021, Ventura, fully updated), I cannot get this to work.

On both ends, a Thunderbolt connection is recognized (iMac: TB 2 and M1: TB 3 as expected).

Both come up with a self-assigned IP-address (network on both ends is set to DHCP), but I cannot reach either of these.

So - what do I need to do to actually make the connection usable?

Hello angrest,

From what you've shared it sounds like you're attempting the following: Use IP over Thunderbolt to connect Mac computers - Apple Support

"Use IP over Thunderbolt to connect Mac computers

  1. Connect a Thunderbolt cable to the Thunderbolt ports on the computers you want to connect.
  2. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Network  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  3. Click the Thunderbolt Bridge service on the right, then click Details.
  4. If you don’t see a Thunderbolt Bridge service, you need to add one. See Set up a network service.
  5. If you need to enter an IP address, click TCP/IP, click the Configure IPv4 pop-up menu, choose an option, then enter the IPv4 address in the IP address field.
  6. If needed, you can also enter a subnet mask and router address.
  7. If you need to enter DNS or search domain addresses, click DNS, then enter the addresses.
  8. Click OK."

We hope this helps you resolve the behavior you're experiencing.

Regards.
