Drag & drop from Mac Mail Ventura

I'm on a 2021 MacBook Pro. Since updating to Ventura 13.1 I can't drag and drop from Mac Mail. My process is:

Share > Mail

Grab the file from mail and drop it in app or browser.

Ventura process:

Share > Mail

Right Click > save to Downloads

Open finder

Grab file from finder drag to app or browser.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

I've spent days on this. My drag and drop works on everything other than my desktop. None of the suggestions worked for me. This morning I was determined to find an answer for myself on my MacBook Air running IOS Ventura. And! on the desktop using finder edit I found Stacks clicked. So I unchecked the Stacks option and WOW...Success. Hope this is of use to someone as frustrated by the whole procedure as I

Sure! We use HelpScout, which is a web app. I need to attach excel files to replies within HelpScout. Previously I did that by sharing an Excel file to Mail. That would generate an email with the file as an attachment. Then I would drag and drop the file from Mac Mail into a reply or note in HelpScout.

Since upgrading to Ventura I cannot drag & drop anything from the Mail app. I have to save it to downloads and retrieve it there. It is only items that are attached to Mac Mal that I can no longer drag and drop.

I tried to upgrade per the suggestion, but my Macbook isn't recognizing any updates.

I really appreciate your time and suggestions.
