Air Print Paper Options Limitations

While trying to print a screenshot on my Epson printer via Air Print I was only given the option to print on premium glossy photo paper. I don't use this paper which caused my printer to present an error that essentially said the paper type was unavailable, please insert paper. My iOS is 16.3 and I tried this with an 11 Pro as well. Will there be any updates to allow the user to select their preferred paper type? If I email the screenshot to my MacBook I can print on regular paper without issue so this is a problem with iOS/Air Print not my printer. Thanks!

By default, an iPhone screenshot is saved as a .png (portable network graphics format) file, and is treated like a photograph (.jpg) by AirPrint. So AirPrint suggests photo paper to print images, including screenshots and photos.

I have a Canon multifunction printer that I can print to, using the either Apple Print via AirPrint, or a Canon PRINT app that offers additional printing options beyond the AirPrint options.

Both AirPrint for my Canon printer and the Canon PRINT app offer the opportunity to select the both the media type (including plain paper) and the paper size, as displayed in the AirPrint screen capture below, for each print job. You might have to scroll down to see all the AirPrint options available.

Does Epson offer an app that allows you to manage printers and print jobs?

Can you save the information captured in the screenshot in another format?

Does your iPhone offer to capture the data of the image on screen (box icon with rows of horizontal lines) and save it separately, to another format or paste it into another app?

I'm not sure that this is a limitation of AirPrint, but how AirPrint has been implemented on this particular Epson printer. For example, have you tried using AirPrint with another printer to verify what you are seeing with your Epson printer is not unique?

As far as any updates to AirPrint, no one here can address that question as we are not Apple employees ... nor would Apple employees be able to inform you on what Apple, will or will not, implement.

I have tried the print to other printers. I get different options but there are still limited. If I'm trying to print a PDF I get plain paper, which is fine. If I'm trying to print a screenshot I only have the option of premium paper stock. I have plain paper in the printer which causes a conflict on the printer side. The iPhone is saying to use a specific paper and the printer is saying it doesn't have that paper. The Epson wants glass photo paper to be loaded to complete the print job because that's what the iPhone requested and the iPhone is limiting the options of what it will request.

I downloaded the Epson app and tried that. Unfortunately, there's still no option for plain paper. It only presents three options of premium photo paper.

I understand why its defaulting to photo paper but not why it's only presenting a few options. When I attempted to print on a commercial RICOH that's on our office network I had more options but still couldn't select plain paper.

This a new issue as I've never had trouble with this process in the past.
