Homepod unresponsive

Hey

I have the original HomePod, last year I unplugged it for a couple of days and when I plugged it back in nothing happened, it was completely dead, no light, no nothing. Changed the fuse, no sign of damage, not sure what happened to be honest, it was working fine and then it wasn’t working at all.

It was out of warranty when it stopped working, and I didn’t have a care plan, what can I do to resolve it? I have many Apple products, and they are normally so reliable, I phoned a repair shop, but they said HomePods were difficult to repair and suggested I look into consumer law. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi Puddleglum347,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with your HomePod turning on. We'd like to help.

Let's go ahead and have you try to restart your HomePod. Restarting from your Home app may get this issue resolved. These steps can help you through that process:

Restart HomePod or HomePod mini

1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that's signed in with the Apple ID that you used to set up HomePod.
2. Tap or click HomePod.
3. Scroll down, or tap or click the Settings icon  and scroll down.
4. If you have two HomePod speakers set up as a stereo pair, select Restart HomePod. If your HomePod speaker is not set up as a stereo pair, select Reset HomePod, then select Restart HomePod.

If you don't see an option to restart your HomePod, unplug it from power, then plug it back in and try again.

If HomePod still doesn't respond, reset it.

Let us know if restarting and/or resetting the device helps.

Cheers!
