macOS Big Sur Update

I'm trying to update my iMac from Catalina to Big Sur. When I try to get the update from the App store, the Software Update panel in System Preferences launches and tries to find the update. But it seems to be stuck trying to find it.

iMac, OS X 10.11

I clicked on the link. It opened the App Store which displayed macOS Big Sur. When I clicked on the Get button, it launched the Software Update panel in System Preferences and displayed Finding Update with a progress bar. Finding Update then seems to get stuck. This is the same problem I described above.

I then closed System Preferences and reopened it. When I clicked on Software Update it displayed "Checking for updates" with a spinning widget that doesn't stop.

The problem is not with my internet connection because I can check for software updates from my iPhone and iPad.

I also disabled my virus software and tried again. Same result.

Then it begs a question that can be answered very accurately by providing a Screen Shot from " About the Mac " without the serial number appearing in the image.

Post It back using the " Image Insert " in tool bar below - 2nd to last icon just before the Box with Arrow
