iCloud backup of Notes on iPhone

Under Notes there are two categories: iCloud and On My Phone. Are the “On My Phone” notes backed up when I perform an iCloud backup?

Yes. Only Notes using iCloud are not backed up.

It's my understanding that All on My iPhone notes are supposed to be included in iCloud backups. “On my iPhone” notes iCloud backup Within notes, you have an “iCloud” section and an “On my iPhone” section. Does the “On my iPhone” section get backed up on iCloud? If I lose my phone, can I recover those notes?

Yes. Only Notes using iCloud are not backed up.
