Which app is creating this Automator workflow?

Every couple of minutes the leftmost app in my menu bar (1Password) disappears for a couple of seconds, then is briefly replaced by a gear icon. I gather this is an Automator workflow item becoming active. I will say at the outset that I do NOT use Automator, so this thing was not created by me. While this is happening, the focus shifts away from the current application, any keystrokes the user types are lost and indeed, use of the keyboard results in an alert tone.

This does not happen all the time, but so far has happened only when I am using a certain set of apps at the same time: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and TeXShop.

Is there any way to determine what is going on here? This is extremely annoying and any app that would install such a process is not user friendly and I would like to ditch it. But I cannot do that without knowing which app it is.

Download and run Etrecheck.  Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to paste the report in your reply.

Then we can evaluate the report to see if we can determine what is causing the problem.

Thank you for the reply. I have run EtreCheck before and found that it is far too comprehensive and scattershot a tool for a first try at troubleshooting unless absolutely everything else has failed. It identifies every single anomaly on a system, the vast majority of which have nothing to do with the problem at hand.

And I believe I have found the culprit: it is indeed 1Password, and it is a known issue.

That's why we asked that you post the report so we can evaluate it. Without the report we're just making blind guesses. With it an educated guess.
