how do I get the mail app to appear on my iPhone ?

If you can't find your Mail app on your Home Screen, it may either have been deleted - in that case you can download it again for free in the App Store. It may also have moved to the App Library.
To find the App Library. Go to your home screen, swipe left until you get to App Library. Find the app, long press it, and drag it back to your Home Screen.
