Xcrun command prompt popped up for no reason

This dialog just popped up on my MacBook for no reason at all. I was just on my browser. What is going on?


MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 13.2

Update: it seems like this is a request made by a new helper tool related to the newest version of CleanMyMac that was downloaded by the autoupdater today (Version 4.12.4). The release notes say:



New

  • Removing outdated Xcode simulator images will save lots of space for those who develop apps on Macs.


Is it safe to assume that xcrun is being used by that app for that purpose?
