Hi, I purchased a base Mac Mini M2 Pro, and want to connect 2 monitors that are currently connected to a docking station I have (Targus Universal USB C DV4K Docking Station 65W). I want to connect the docking station to the mac mini m2 pro with 1 usb-c cable, and be able to use both monitors as separate screens. is this possible?

It doesn’t recognize anything through the docking station. Thanks for your help but really seems like a flaw that I have to manually move both HDMI cables (plus my Ethernet, mouse usb dongle) every time I want to switch from my work laptop to the Mac mini…..

You can try that, but displays are best connected directly to the Mac mini’s.

Note that the M2 Mac mini Pro supports three displays, two on the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports and one on the HDMI port.

I am wondering if it is actually possible. I have tried and does not seem to work.
The point of this is so I can switch from my Mac mini to my work laptop easily with 1 usb-c cable.
Flaw perhaps, a compatibility issue between the Dock and Mac mini for sure.
I would leave the Dock connected to the laptop. Use different cables to the Mac mini and then switch the displays source back and forth. Then use an Ethernet switch to supply Ethernet to both.
What displays do you have?
What laptop?
You may get the displays to work on the Dock, but the Mac mini may not be able to distinguish them as two and offer Extended Desktop Mode.
My 2 displays are:
1) Lenovo LEN L24q-30
2) HP e24mv G4
they are both currently connected to my Targus docking station via HDMI’s
laptop is an HP Zbook (works fine with my docking station)

Try connecting one to the HDMI port and the other to the dock.
If that doesn’t work, connect one to the HDMI port and one or both on a USB-C to DisplayPort cables(s).
