In the Numbers file I'm presently working on all of the cells are aligned at the top edge. I've tried following the instructions in the text Side-Bar but nothing is happening. I've tried a single cell, a column, and the whole table but no change. Please help.

From your screenshot it appears that you might be able to improve the appearance by increasing the row height slightly. You can do that under the Table tab. Select the rows and either increase Height manually, or try clicking the Fit button.
If this table was in a document imported from Excel and you just can't get it to format the way you want then you could try creating a new table in Numbers, selecting the cells in the imported table, copying via command-c, clicking once in the upper left cell of the new table, and choosing Edit > Paste and Match Style.

None of us here on the forum can see your screenshot. Did you start a new post here and insert the image using the mountain-and-moon 'Image insertion' icon just below the compose window?
Keep in mind that there are additional controls for positioning text with a cell under the 'Layout' tab:
You might want to try experimenting with those to see if they give you the look you want.

F5ankly I never new that icon was for inserting an image. Nw that the screenshot is visble perhaps you'll be able to see what I'm trying to get accross. I will tryi experimenting with those two things in the meantime, SGIII, and I do appreciate your help. Thanks!

Please post a screenshot of the table in question and post what actions you have tried.
What did you do to the single cell? to the column, the whole table? What happened and what did you expect to happen when you took the action?
Thanks, Wayne, for your quick answer. As you can see, all of the cells are at the top edge, especially noticeable when I added "s. I've followed the same instructions whether doing it in Cell E22, Column E, or the whole table. I then go to the Text Side-Bar and go down to the Alignment Bar near the bottom and click on the Bottom Alignment, as well as the Middle Alignment. But nothing changes no matter which way I try.
That solved it SGIII. Increased the height by 1 pt and voila! Thanks much for the best answer although I still don't see why I couldn't accomplish it with the cell alignment tabs as I initially tried.

It's hard to tell, without actually working with the documents. Perhaps some combination of alignment and inset might get the job done, but increasing row height is probably easier.
