Colorless icons after latest update

After the latest OS update, all Safari icons remain gray even after revisiting the sites as recommended in earlier posts. I DID NOT clear my history prior to this happening. This situation occurred (without any action on my part) after the latest update. Revisiting the sites has not returned the color to the icons. What's the next solution? Safari 16.3 (16614.4.6.11.4, 16614) running on macOS 11.7.3 (20G1116). Thanks.

Hey deidre269,

After reviewing your post, it seems like icons within Safari are grey. Let's get a little more information to help narrow this down.

Are you referring to the Favorites on the Start Page?

Are these saved bookmarks?

Are you able to update the Mac to macOS 12?

Have you tried clearing History and seeing if the issue persists? Here are instructions for clearing your history: Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac - Apple Support.

Keep us posted.

A1 - yes, these are the icons on the Safari start page, Favorites

A2 - yes, these are saved bookmarks

A3 - no, unable to upgrade to macOS 12. 2014 MacBookPro 11,2 2.2Ghz Quad-core Intel I7

A4 - yes, I've fully cleared all history. Most bookmark icons remain gray with white lettering. Some are

completely blank while others have partial coloration. Ironically, the iCloud icon is gray while the

One Drive icon is full color.

Thanks for the assist. Dee
