Importing an old iPhotos or Aperture library to Photos in Ventura

How can I import an old iPhotos library and an old Aperture library to Photos in Ventura?

When I select the library I want to import I receive a message saying Photos cannot import these libraries and I have to use an older Mac OS

Hi there Janos-MAC,

If you can't access an older Photos library or import content from that library, try using the Photos Repair Library tool with the guidance here to see if that helps: How to use the Photos Repair Library tool on your Mac - Apple Support

If the issue persists, please provide the exact error message you're seeing and what steps you're taking before you see this error. We'll take a closer look from there.

Thanks.

With Ventura the ability to open and convert older iPhoto (and Aperture) libraries has been lost. What you will need to do is put the libraries on an external drive that's formatted either APFS or OS X Extended (journaled), connect it to a Mac running Monterey or earlier and open and convert the libraries with Photos. Then when connected to your Ventura Mac you'll be able to open and converter it to the Ventura Photos.
