Hi Traxxxx,

To help isolate the behavior, test and see if the issue persists after restarting your Mac and iPhone. Restarting can clear up unexpected behavior. Check out those suggestions here: Continuity Camera: Use iPhone as a webcam for Mac - Apple Support

If Continuity Camera isn't working as expected
• Make sure that your iPhone and Mac meet the system requirements.
• Make sure that your iPhone is properly mounted.
• Install the latest macOS updatesiOS updates, and updates for your video app.
• If you haven't unlocked your iPhone since it last restarted, unlock it, then lock it again.
• Plug your iPhone into your Mac.
• Restart your iPhone or Mac.

If the issue persists, then reach out to Apple Support directly to help investigate the behavior. You can use the following link to reach out: Contact - Official Apple Support

Kind regards.

Hi Traxxxx,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that Continuity Camera is not working. What happens when trying to use this feature? You want to make sure that you're using this feature is a supported app and with the latest software version installed. Check that both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled. You will also need to have two-factor authentication enabled on your Apple ID.

Use Continuity Camera to scan or take a picture in these supported apps:
-Finder
-Keynote 8.2 or later
-Mail
-Messages
-Notes
-Numbers 5.2 or later
-Pages 7.2 or later
-TextEdit

Find these details and additional requirements in the article that you viewed prior to posting your question: Continuity Camera: Use your iPhone or iPad to scan documents or take a picture on your Mac - Apple Support.

Regards.

I have been struggling for months trying to get Continuity Camera to work, just getting messages that 'Could not import from iPhone - The device timed out'.

I re-installed everything, scrupulously fulfilled all the requirements specified by Apple, but still not working.

Turned out the answer was - it does not work if the computer is using a VPN - in my case ExpressVPN. No idea why not. Turn off the VPN and CC works perfectly. Aaaargh!
