Macbook Air M2 does not connect to external Monitor

Background: I have a Dell U2713H 27 inch monitor which I previously connected to my macbook air 2015 using HDMI to thunderbolt and it worked fine but now it does not connect to my Macbook air M2 2022.

Did the following things already:

1. Tried connecting it to the monitor using an HDMI cable which I then connected that to a usb-c hub and connected the USB-hub to the usb-c port in the mac but the it would disconnect and reconnect every few seconds.

2. Bought a new USB-C hub and tried it again and the same problem.

3. Connected the laptop to power and didn’t fix the problem.

4. Changed resolutions for the monitor but it still didn’t fix it.

5. Bought a HDMI to usb 2.0 adapter and connected that to the usb-c hub and connected that to the mac and it didn’t even detect it.

6. Bought a display port to usb c and connected it directly to the mac and it didn’t even detect it again.

7. Tried connecting the display port through the usb-c hub, still didn’t work.

Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Hey there waxiri,

We understand your MacBook Air isn't detecting your display. We'd be happy to provide information to help you troubleshoot.

Try the steps here: Use one or more external displays with your Mac

If your Mac doesn’t detect a connected display
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Displays  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Press and hold the Option key, then click the Detect Displays button on the right.
You can also try putting your Mac to sleep and then waking it.

Regards.
