Mail keeps crashing after upgrade to Ventura OS

Boy am I sorry I upgraded to the Ventura OS. Have a new iMac and the primary use of my computer is email. No I can't even use it. It's turned into a 1700 dollar paper weight. Why does my mail program keep crashing. I've tried everything to correct. It specifically has a problem with my cox mail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been a Mac user for over 20 years but after this am seriously thinking this could be my last Mac.

Hello 1136BigB,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with Mail on your Mac. If Mail is crashing, try the steps here to resolve the issue: If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac - Apple Support

"When an app on your Mac stops working, try these suggestions.

  • If an app doesn’t quit as expected, or it’s unresponsive, you can force quit the app (you may lose unsaved changes). Choose Apple menu  > Force Quit, select the app in the dialog that appears, then click Force Quit.
  • If the app quit, reopen it by clicking Reopen in the dialog that appears.
  • Restart your Mac by choosing Apple menu > Restart.
  • Make sure the app is compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Open another file in the app. There may be a problem with the original file.
  • Check for updates to your software.
  • Disconnect any peripheral devices you just connected (for example, a printer). They may not be compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Uninstall any app plug-ins or enhancements from other manufacturers.
  • If you recently updated the app or macOS, a plug-in or enhancement you installed may no longer be compatible.
  • Diagnose problems with your Mac to learn whether hardware you installed, such as additional memory, is incompatible, improperly installed, or defective."

Hey 1136BigB,

Does this issue persist in safe mode? How to use safe mode on your Mac. If it doesn't, restart after testing in safe mode and then test again. Sometimes just starting in safe mode and restarting can resolve interface issues.  If your issue persists in safe mode, please follow this article in creating a new user to test and see if the issue is resolved there: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. This can help tell us if the issue is related to certain settings in your account conflicting with the Mail app.

1136BigB,

Thanks for the additional information regarding your Mail app crashing issue with your Cox email. We know how important this is for you and we will do everything we can to get this resolved.

Since the issue seems system-wide, then the next step is to reinstall the macOS. This step can resolve issues like this. Don't worry all of your data will be OK, this just reinstalls the macOS over top of the existing one:

Thank you for this but I have already tried these things to no avail. I've isolated the problem to one account which is my cox mail account. I have tried to delete plist and all of that and nothing fixed it. There seems to be a problem when I start deleting emails. I can open email when my phone is nearby and the mail program on my phone is active. As soon as I highlight several emails on my computer and press delete it crashes instantly and I can't reopen it unless I deactivate the cox account. I hope this sheds more light on the problem. I bought this computer to primarily check emails and it is useless to me if it can't.

Tried and nothing helped. There seems to be an issue with deleting the emails between devices? I can get email to open but when I try to delete an email on my mac, it doesn't delete on my iPhone, but if I delete on my I phone it WILL delete on my mac. If there's a difference between the mail on my iPhone and mac the mac will crash and I can't get the mail to reopen. I hope this helps. I'm loosing faith in Apple every day this isn't addressed and getting beyond frustrated with Ventura since that "upgrade" led to all these problems.
