Mirroring

Mirror casting using IPad/MAC book: I have my new Samsung TV connect to Sonos sound bar and when I mirror my MAC book or IPad screen to Samsung TV, there is no sound as it stuck to the TV sound system rather than using the Sonos sound bar as sound.


So when I change the sound on the MAC book or IPad to Sonos sound bar, it disable the screen and only play sound. I cant use the TV and Sonos sound bar together. I can only use one or the other. But when I watch TV, it plays through the Sonos sound bar as it should (connect via HDMI as the HDMI arc doesnt work).

You mentioned that HDMI ARC wasn't working - a couple things you can do

  • "Make sure that your TV supports ARC or eARC. You can check by seeing if there's an ARC label next to your HDMI port, or you can contact your TV manufacturer.
  • You might have to turn on ARC, eARC, or HDMI-CEC in the settings of your TV. Check with your TV manufacturer for details. 
  • Unplug the HDMI cables from your TV then plug the cables in again and try to use ARC or eARC. "

Does it work with the TV sound selected as the audio source?


If you don't hear audio when streaming video from your iOS device or Mac to your Apple TV, make sure that the volume is turned up and not muted on both your iOS device and your television or receiver.

Also, check to see if your Sonos speaker is compatible with AirPlay. If so, you'll see it listed here: Home app - Accessories - Apple

Is this behavior consistent no matter what is being displayed, or is it only happening when specific items are being AirPlayed to the TV, such as streaming content? This could be important because some content, specifically items from some streaming services, may not be able to be shown over AirPlay with full video and audio. Just wanting to make sure that isn't the case. Sonos does have a guide for setting up their products to work with audio streaming, but it doesn't mention video streaming, so may want to check with them for more details if Stream AirPlay audio to Sonos doesn't help.

Hi


This behaviour applies to anything am trying to mirror to Samsung TV. I do exercises using video and no sound. Stream movies and no sound. Tried different device (iPad and no sound). Seems like Apple had disable the sound and only restrict it to either using sonos as the device to play sound or TV to mirror screen with no sound
