Mini M2 Loses 2nd Display Every Restart

Every time the mini m2 pro restarts it fails to connect to a second screen connected via thunderbolt 4 port through Apple usb C Digital AV Multi-adapter (hdmi). If I unplug the adapter and plug it back in after logging in the screen connects. This behavior started randomly after about a week.

I’ve tried changing which thunderbolt 4 port I use, swapping hdmi cable, swapping monitors, changing which monitor is main and which is extended, changing monitor color settings, deleting com.Apple.windowservers.displays, disconnecting all other peripherals.

It seems like if you look at the new mini the wrong way something new breaks on it.

Narrowed it down to a couple things:

  1. Disconnecting Sabrent Thunderbolt SSD drive allows the computer to boot in normal mode with both screens consistently connecting
  2. Booting in safe mode both screens will connect even with Sabrent drive connected

Why would the ssd be causing the screen to fail to connect? For now I can unplug and replug in the drive every boot, but that is pretty annoying. Is there anyway to get to the bottom of whats happening?
