Siri says "there is a problem with Apple Music" when I ask it to shuffle one of my playlist on any of my HomePods.

I ask Siri to shuffle one of my smart playlist. After a long pause it reports back "there is a problem with Apple Music". This started happening on my HomePod and HomePod minis. It only happens with one of my smart playlists.

I've rebooted my high speed internet and also removed and reinstalled my HomePods. Still the same issue. Ideas?

HomePod mini, 16

Hey there ScottfromGA,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with shuffling one of your playlists on Apple Music with your HomePod. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Try duplicating the playlist to see if that helps.

On iPhone:

  1. Press and hold playlist and select "Add to a Playlist"
  2. Press "New Playlist"
  3. Press done.

On your Mac:

  1. Find the playlist at the left-hand side
  2. Right-click on the playlist name
  3. Select "Duplicate"

Attempt playing the new playlist.

Let us know the results.

Providing an update. I spent some time on the phone with a Sr. Apple Tech this morning. She was helpful. Apparently issues with Siri and HomePod are known and being researched by Apple. In the meantime I modified the rules of my smart playlist to limit it to 5500 random items. Siri seems to be able to shuffle this playlist on HomePod. More than 6000 items does not work. Apple is going to research this some more and follow up.
