ethernet on macbook pro m2 using ventura

I have got the Belkin usb-c to Ethernet adapter, plugs in but nothing showing up at all, just shows thunderbolt 1 and 2 in network settings.

Does anyone know if you need a driver to install this device.

I use the Ethernet instead of wi fi due to bad signal in house.

This should be so easy on a new device.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.1

Greetings magicman1956,

Ensure you're following these steps to set up Ethernet: Connect your Mac to the internet using Ethernet - Apple Support

If the issue persists, then ensure the adapter doesn't have any damage, and that the cables are seated correctly. That may help clear up the connection issue. Check out those suggestions, and further troubleshooting, outlined here: Troubleshoot an Ethernet device on Mac - Apple Support

1. Check the Ethernet cable to make sure it’s not damaged.
2. Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the Ethernet port on your computer and the device. Remove the cable, then reconnect it to make sure it’s connected properly.
3. Make sure your network settings are correct. If you’re not sure which settings to use, contact your ISP.
4. Shut down your Mac, then turn off the Ethernet device. Wait a few minutes, then turn the Ethernet device back on. Wait until it has started up completely, then restart your Mac.

If further assistance is needed, then reach out to Belkin Support for help with their accessory. You can use the following link to reach out: Belkin Support

Kind regards.

So after searching and playing with the Belkin usb-c to Ethernet adapter, I can confirm it’s not compatible with the new M2 MacBook Pro laptop.

I have found one which is, the Anker one with product number A8341 works well and connects first time, once the settings under privacy are agreed too.

I have tried this on my new MacBook Pro m2 laptop, plug the type c usb in and checked for the device showing in network but nothing shows.

This is on the latest Ventura OS, would have thought Apple would have videos showing how to connect these, unless the item is not compatible.

they sell the item in apple stores but this one is over 2 years old, but both look the same.
