External Microphone Not Connecting to iPhone 14 plus

I’m trying to connect an external microphone (movo pm20-S and a zingyou mic) to my iPhone 14 plus for recording via the camera app.

i have the lightning to headphone Jack but my phone keeps recognizing them as headphones and not a microphone. This means when I test record, the audio is the same as the phone’s rather than the external mic.

is there somewhere in the settings I can change the audio input to ‘external mic’

thank you in advance

Thanks Lissy_12 - it doesn’t have a problem connecting, the issue is my iPhone thinks it is a set of headphones and not a microphone. That’s why I believe it’s an iPhone issue (I’ve seen similar concerns raised about previous iPhones having this issue but wasn’t aware of the specific workaround for the iPhone 14)

Hi Pjward88,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! For this issue, we would recommend reaching out directly to the manufacturer as they will be the experts for their products, including compatibility and adapters needed. Here is the contact page for Movo that may help:

Hello Pjward88,

Welcome back to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get the device working as expected for you.

There isn't a setting build into iOS for this. Since the device is not made by Apple, reaching the manufacturer is the best next step. There might be additional software needed for the device made by the manufacturer.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
