Icloud is showing 2.9GB of 5GB BUT 0KB actually in Documents & Data

Icloud is showing 2.9GB of 5GB used and I can't backup my Iphone 12 because the next backup size is 4.9GB. When I tap 'Manage Storage' then 'Backup', the backup is not listed. So I am unable to delete whatever is currently in Icloud. Could this be a backup associated to an old device and maybe that is why it is not listed?

How can I delete what is currently stored in Icloud if the backup associated to that storage is not listed on either device? Is there a way to reset or 'clear out' Icloud storage?

Data bar shows purple backups bar but there is 0 KB in documents & data to manage or delete.

I have done a hard reset 3 times with no resolution. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hey jevanchak,

We'd be happy to help out. It does sound like you might have a backup elsewhere or some other data taking up space in iCloud preventing backup of your iPhone 12. Even if it were completely clear though, it's unlikely you'd be able to complete a backup and even if you were, you wouldn't be able to complete any further backups of your device as you're out of storage on the free 5GB. For more info on clearing your iCloud storage space though, please review: Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support

To ultimately resolve this matter, the best thing you can do is upgrade to iCloud+ using the 50GB of storage plan. This will ensure you can not only backup your device currently, but also moving forward. For help with doing so, check out these steps:

How to upgrade on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. Go to Settings, then tap your name.
2. Tap iCloud, then tap Manage Account Storage or Manage Storage. Or scroll down and tap Upgrade to iCloud+.
3. Tap Buy More Storage or Change Storage Plan.
4. Choose a plan and follow the onscreen instructions.

For more info, check out: Upgrade to iCloud+ - Apple Support

We hope this helps out.

Take care!
