Hello bchollis,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you're unable to view your resting heart rate while using your Apple Watch. If so, we'd like to help out. Attempting a restart of your device was a great step to try. We can recommend two more steps to further isolate this expected behavior. First, try to install any available pending updates for your Apple Watch. Keeping your device fully updated can help resolve various issues.
Just in case, this resource can guide you through the update process: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support
1.) Make sure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
2.) Make sure that your Apple Watch is at least 50 percent charged.
3.) Make sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.
4.) On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
5.) Tap General > Software Update.
6.) Download the update. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
7.) Wait for the progress wheel to appear on your Apple Watch. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete.
If you're already fully updated, you might want to try unpairing your Apple Watch and re-pair it to your iPhone. The resources below can guide you:
1.) Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support
2.) Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support
We hope these steps are helpful. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
