I used to just click on itunes, look through their library, play 30 seconds of free music and then decide if i wanted to buy it to download...since my 2014 macbook was upgaded to catalina, i can no longer do this? is it now the case that this option no longer exist and one has to take out a monthly subscription?

but, if you look at my original question - say for example i'm suddenly interested in "elvis costello" - i would type that in and apple would show me all the albums and singles that apple had in the iTunes store of elvis costello; i would then be able to listen to abut 30 seconds of any of his songs and then decide if i wanted to buy it. at the moment, it won't let me type anything in the 'search' box at the top of the screenshot!

thanks for your time.....

John
