Ipad Does Not Show Actual Recently Used Folders In The Files App

  1. I do not think Ipad shows the actual recently used folder in the files app’s left panel.

How does It determine “Recently Used”?

  1. If It would not show actual Recently Used Folders How can I disable “Recently Used Folders” section on the left panel in the Files App?

1) There is no Browser Button on the bottom of the screen can you please share a screenshot of it?

2) Can I completely remove “Recents” parts from the left panel?

3) Where are Files App Settings? I could not find It on Settings App.

4) What I want to say is It does not actually shows the recently used folders. They show the wrong folders.

Hello Mainecoon364,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you are not seeing a recently used folder. We are happy to help.

You can see the recent items you have used under Recents. There is no recent folder per se.

You can use the steps here to browse files and folders: View and modify files and folders in Files on iPad - Apple Support

"Browse and open files and folders

  1. Tap Browse at the bottom of the screen, then tap an item in the Browse sidebar.
  2. If you don’t see the Browse sidebar, tap Browse again.
  3. To view recently opened files, tap Recents at the bottom of the screen.
  4. To open a file, location, or folder, tap it.
  5. Note: If you haven’t installed the app that created a file, a preview of the file opens in Quick Look.

For information about marking folders as favorites or adding tags, see Organize files and folders in Files on iPad."

You can use the steps here to organize files: Organize files and folders in Files on iPad - Apple Support

"Tag a file or folder

  1. Touch and hold the file or folder, tap Tags, then tap one or more tags.
  2. Tap Done.

Tagged items appear below Tags in the Browse sidebar.

To remove a tag, tap it again."

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.

Hi Mainecoon364,

Great questions. It's not possible to remove Recents from the sidebar, but you can always send your suggestion: Product Feedback - Apple

If you're looking for settings for the Files app, you'd tap the ... in the top of the sidebar. You'd see a few options there, including Edit Sidebar.

Can you provide us with more information about what you're seeing when you say you see the wrong folders? Knowing more about the question will help us work out what could be happening.

Best wishes.
