How does one update citations? I'm using EndNote X20 with Pages 12.2.1. I edited a reference in my EndNote library. Now I need to update references so the update shows in the citation (footnote). In MSWord, there's a button to update citations. I don't see a comparable option in Pages.

Because Pages is not a clone of Word, you won't find any update feature. Probably a good reason to be using Word which has better support for EndNote than does Pages.

Yes, I decided to continue using MSWord instead of switching to Pages.
