Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter suddenly does not work

Hello,

I was using Apple lightning to USB 3 camera adapter to connect an external DAC to my iPhone 14 Pro Max. The setup was working until just recently.

Initially, I thought the DAC was malfunctioning, but I tested on my Macbook, and it doesn't seem to be the problem.

Just connecting the Apple lightning to USB 3 camera adapter to my iPhone alone gives me an error saying. "USB 2.0 Hub: This accessory requires too much power."

Is this because of a recent iOS update? and how can I fix this error?

Hi Paul11tcg,

While we cannot speculate on what is causing this, we'd be happy to troubleshoot this with you.

Since noticing this, has your iPhone been restarted? Restarting can help resolve many unexpected issues we may face with our devices.

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power off slider appears.

2. Drag the slider and wait about 30 seconds.

3. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears to power it back on. Once back on, test to see if this continues.

Also, be sure that your iPhone is fully charged or connected to a power source since some devices may need more power than your iPhone can provided. Check out: Use Apple USB-A camera adapters with USB-A devices - Apple Support.

Have a good one!

Paul11tcg,

Thanks for the additional information regarding your USB device issues. Can you please answer the following questions:

• Which iOS version is your iPhone running? Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

• Have you tried using a different device? This will let us know if it's an issue with your iPhone or the USB devices.

• Have you checked for any firmware updates for your Dragonfly Cobalt DAC? This could be a simple fix.

Take Care!

Hello Trish313,

Thanks for replying. I would be referring

  • Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter as A
  • Lightning to USB Cable as B
  • DAC (Dragonfly Cobalt) as C

I have tried the following:

  1. Restarting iPhone
  2. Restarting while connected to the entire setup
  3. Connecting the setup when iPhone is fully charged
  4. Connecting iPhone with just A and B
  5. Unplugging everything and connecting again

None of them worked. Even though the error shows up, I am still able to see A in Settings -> General -> About.

Also, when testing number 4, the iPhone charges, but my car is does not recognize that the iPhone is connected as opposed to just connecting B to the iPhone.

It is definitely A that is faulty, any thoughts on what might be causing this problem? I have not damaged A, it has been sitting in my car since I purchased it. Looking forward to your reply.
