connecting a printer

I have a iMac24". My printer is Epson Stylus Photo RX595 2. I used a USB-C to USB adapter to connect them, but when I try to print nothing happens. When I try Add Printer it shows up, but I get a message below Choose a Driver... that says: Software for this printer isn't available from Apple. Contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.

Is it safe to go to Epson and download software?

Yes, it's perfectly safe to download the drivers from Epson. Here is the link for the RX595:

https://epson.com/Support/Printers/All-In-Ones/Epson-Stylus-Series/Epson-Stylus-Photo-RX595/s/SPT_C11C693201 Select your version of macOSm then Go and you will get the page to download the drivers you need.
