Everything I read indicates computers and storage equipment should be protected with a minimum surge capacity of 2,000 joules and recommend 3,000. I have an APC UPS that I use with my iMac assuming it provided adequate surge protection but it's specification indicates it provides 340 Joules. Does the UPS by its nature provide adequate surge protection?

Thanks Allan, I am trying to followup with APC but not having a lot of luck with it. There is a lot about surge protection that isn't obvious to me so I hope to get some clarification from them.
