All my files disappeared mysteriously

I have been an apple user and FAN since 2018 but I got really disappointed when I opened the finder to copy my school files to the school computer; all my school files, my resume, the results of the students and all these school related items in the ‘school’ folder had mysteriously disappeared.

I checked out the trash, thinking that I’ve might deleted them by accident but they weren’t there either. I was shocked because the last time I emptied the trash was like an year ago.

I tried online tips and terminal commands but none of them worked.

All of my files were disappeared all of a sudden in just 12 days.

I hope apple can help me fix this problem because I like Apple more than any tech company in the universe.

Thank You For The Help

Are you using any cloud based file syncing services such as iCloud, One Drive, Drop Box, etc.? If so, then any other device syncing those items could have deleted them from the cloud. Deleting/modifying an item synced in the cloud deletes/modifies the item on every other connected device.

Have you tried using Spotlight to try to locate the folder or some of the missing files in case the folder got accidentally moved to another location?

Try showing hidden files in the Finder by pressing Command + Shift + Dot/Period just in case the folder somehow became hidden.

The best way to recover missing or damaged files is by restoring them from a backup made before they disappeared. If you don't have a backup, then those files are long gone if they are no longer on the internal SSD.

People should always have frequent and regular backups of their computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data.
