Log in screen

Login screen will not recognize my password on MacBook Air. Instead of locking me out for a few minutes it locks me out for hours. The password is accepted under recovery mode and 100% certain correct password is being entered.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.6

I understand you are 100% certain the password is correct, but the only way to recover use of that Mac is to proceed as described in If you forgot your Mac login password - Apple Support, followed by If you can't reset your Mac login password if necessary.
