PDF attachment not showing in Mac Mail 12.6 Monterey IMAP

I am trying to access important PDF attachments sent to me via email on MacBook Pro running Monterey.

In mail, the email does not show an attachment within the email.

There is no icon either in the header or in the summary list.

It's as if the email has no attachment in it.

If I open the same email on an older Mac (MacPro 2013 running....will check. Likely the last 32 bit OS), the email has the attachment.

If I open it with iPhone 13 Pro Max, again the attachment is there.

I've tried rebuilding the mailbox.

Ventura 13.2.1 still has this issue. Not sure if the problem is with Adobe or Apple. Work-around is to forward the mail with the invisible attachment to someone not on the original distribution, but before you hit SEND, look at the bottom, and there's your PDF attachment. You can then discard the forwarded email. Or, to simplify, go to MAIL > EDIT > INCLUDE ATTACHMENTS WITH REPLIES and check ALWAYS. Then when you forward or reply, the attachment will always be there.

BTW, Apple FIX THIS PLEASE, this has gone on long enough.

Hi there bonzabuy,

If you are unable to see or open this attachment in the Mail app on your MacBook Pro, let's first check the email provider's website in a web browser to see if this attachment is shown with this email. This will help us isolate if the issue is with the Mail app or with the email account.

If you see the attachment on the email provider's website, then let's update your Mac to the latest version of macOS Monterey, 12.6.3. This installs feature improvements and bug fixes that can resolve unexpected behavior like this. These steps from Update macOS on Mac show how to back up and update:

Before following these steps, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.
1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen, choose System Settings or System Preferences.
• If you chose System Settings, click General on the left side of the window. Then click Software Update on the right.
• If you chose System Preferences, click Software Update in the window.
2. Software Update then checks for new software.
• If Software Update finds new software, click the button to install it. The button might be named Update Now, Upgrade Now, Install Now, or Restart Now, for example. You might then be asked to enter your administrator password.
• If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only software that is compatible with your Mac.

We hope that helps!
