Noticeable Audio Cut When Using Multicam

Hello all, I have an issue with using the Multicam feature. I have had this issue ever since I started using FCP in march last year.

For context I have a Multicam clip with 2 cams and 1 audio source so the audio stays the same and i'm only flicking between the cameras

When changing just the video angles (Multicam) but leaving the audio there is a noticeable (difficult to explain but a quick fade out and in between the clips). If you open the Multicam it's not there and the issue only happens When using effects on the audio within the Multicam clip. I have no third party effects installed so they are all original from FCP.

This issue happens in playback and in the rendered video.

SO yeah I'm only changing the video when I make a cut, the audio is the same and does not change. I have manually synced it and everything lines up perfectly but like I say when I make a cut on the project timeline to a different angle the audio just cuts as its switching camera, when I said fade its a super quick fade but noticeable. I have added the effect to the audio in the Multicam clip due to the many cuts I would have to apply it so many times in the project overview. here is a link to an example to a cut you can here: https://youtu.be/VhZrgGo2yuI

For the separate synced audio angle in the multicam, it's one continuous clip and the audio effect is applied to this synced audio clip? What audio effect is being applied? And when you switch between video angles (video only edits), you hear fades at each of these video angle cut points?

Can you post screenshots of the multicam editor, clip viewer and project timeline?

That's a good workaround from Tom.

So, just to be sure, you have an audio effect that's applied to the Audio angle *inside* the multicam? No audio effects applied at the higher project level? I tried to replicate this with a heavy compressor effect on the audio angle, then did video-only edits of the multicam in a project and could not hear any changes at the edit points.

Hi Tom As I have made cuts in terms of deleting stuff within the video it will be quickly out of sync, otherwise I will try to keep this in mind the next time I need this.

Correct the audio effects are only applied at Multicam level, when going higher into the project timeline there are no effects or changes made to the audio.

I have go rid of the effect for now so I can post this video. very strange how you did not have the same issue.

Thanks for trying to help

Then you have to do or more careful. Detach the first shot, stretch it out to where there is an audio cut. Detach the audio for the next shot and stretch it out to the next cut.

Basically when working with this type of multicam where you want to cut the video work with detached audio and use Shift-Cmd-B where you need to cut sections of both video and audio.
