How to delete messages from iPad only

Whether or not these changes sync to your other devices would depend on how your iPad is configured. If iCloud for Messages is enabled, deleting a message on your iPad would delete it from any other devices using the same iCloud account with iCloud for Messages turned on. Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices has more information about this, along with steps to manage this feature. If you don't want changes made on your iPad within Messages to sync to other devices, you'll want to disable iCloud for Messages.

1. On your iPad open Settings.
2. Tap [your name] > iCloud.

• If you're running iPadOS 16 or later: Tap Show All, tap Messages, then turn on Sync this iPad.
• For iPadOS 15 or earlier: Turn off Messages.
