How do send a 'text message reply' to 'all phone calls'?

How do I set up a 'text message reply' to 'all phone calls'?

I am 'new' to iPhone, I had Samsung mobiles for years, so things are different!

My new iPhone is the 13 Pro, running IOS 16

I am also very deaf and cannot answer calls on the phone, so this is what I would like to do but are struggling. I need to send every incoming call a message, a text reply, confirming I cannot answer the calls due to my deafness and give the option for them to email me instead.

So far I have found the following and changed them...

Settings / Phone / Respond with Text / message added

Settings / Focus / (+ to drop down, other options e.g. Do Not disturb, Driving, Personal, Sleep and Work)

I set personal to ON

I need to get the mobile to answer a call with a text message within say 3 seconds of the call coming in.

But being new to the iPhone I am lost!

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hope I have done this correctly

Thank you for your reply

Is it possible to set up a pre recorded voice message that will play for every incoming call?

Similar to that of an answer phone, but only a message for the caller, nothing more.

I am looking for the best option due to being very deaf and also I am disabled and not very mobile.

Hello PJ_San,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We see you're looking to have calls interact with a message from you as opposed to a voice call, right?

If we have that correct, we'd recommend checking out the following resource as this may be helpful with what you're looking to do. We'll include some information below related to the resource, and additional information can be found here: Answer or make RTT or TTY calls from your iPhone - Apple Support

What is RTT/TTY?

RTT (real-time text) allows you to send text messages with a recipient during a phone call. RTT can also be used with a TTY (teletypewriter) device.

This feature is available for plans from carriers in the United States and Canada only. Standard voice call rates apply for both Software and Hardware RTT/TTY calls. Depending on your carrier, you might see RTT, TTY, or RTT/TTY.

If that isn't helpful, you can reach out directly to Apple for accessibility support as they may be able to offer additional suggestions to make your experience better. To reach out, use this link: How to contact Apple for accessibility support - Apple Support

Have a great day!

Visual Voicemail is the service that transcribes your voicemail and displays the transcription on your phone. Click on the link Racheals14 provided for more details.

Are you by any chance sharing an Apple ID with your wife? That can cause problems. I admit I've never tried to use this setup myself but others have reported that it works.

My only additional suggestion would be to change your voicemail message to explain that you may not answer the phone and to please text you.

You can also let Apple know that this is a feature you'd like them to add in the future:

The only way I know of to send a text message to all callers is by using the Driving focus. Go to Settings>Focus>Driving. Tap on "Auto-Reply" and set it to "All Contacts". Tap on the Auto-Reply Message at the bottom of that screen and edit it to whatever you want to say. Then go back to the first Driving focus scree and tap on "While Driving" and change it to "Manually".

When you want to turn this own, go to the Control Center, tap and hold on the Focus button and then tap on "Driving".
