Mac Air M1 2020. Reinstalled MAC few times just to be sure it’s the same all the time. I have a HUB-C with wired Fiber+1G ethernet. In both OS Monterey and Ventura when I run the speed test I get
Max 190 MBPS when testing with Safari but the minute I install Google Chrome I get around 780MBPS. Any solutions, please???

Test with a private window
A website can store cookies, caches, and other data on your Mac, and issues with that data can affect your use of the website. To prevent the website from using that data, view it in a private window. From the menu bar in Safari, choose File > New Private Window, or press Shift-Command-N.
If that works, use the following steps to remove the website's data, including its caches and cookies. The website can then create new data as needed. If it's a website that you sign in to, make sure that you know your sign-in information before continuing.
1. Choose Safari > Settings (or Preferences), then click Privacy.
2 . Click Manage Website Data.
3 . Select the affected website from the list shown.
4. Click Remove.
5. Click Done.
6. Open the website again in a non-private browser window.
Check network settings
Certain network settings, such as those related to using a proxy server or custom DNS server, can affect access to content on the internet. Even if you haven't changed your network settings, you might have installed software that changed those settings for you.
To find out whether the issue is with the network settings on your Mac, try viewing the website from some other device connected to the same network.
To find out whether the issue is with your network itself, try viewing the website after connecting to a different network.

Sounds like a plan. If you still have issues, you might also check the extensions you use with Safari which might hinder some performance: Use Safari extensions on your Mac - Apple Support
Uninstall or turn off extensions
Choose Safari > Settings (or Preferences), then click Extensions.
To turn off an extension, deselect its checkbox.
To uninstall an extension, select the extension and click the Uninstall button. If you can't determine what an extension does, or you don't expect to use it again, you should uninstall it.

Thank you for your fast reply. Just tested the Private mode but the speed is about the same.
179 Safari, 780 Google. I’ll check the network connection, but I don’t expect too many changes, but you never know, let you know later.
No, I have Zero installed extensions, I am sure it has to do something with the network and how Google uses the
settings on my Mac vs Safari. As I said above I have fully formatted the drive and re-install Mac to factory settings and I always get the same speeds tested above. There is nothing else installed on my laptop.

Just called my Shaw service provider, talk to tech support and no answer. On their end the speed is over 800mbps
