Apple Music won't play for spouse on stereo HomePod mini's paired to Apple TV 4Kprevious gen

'Sorry there was a problem with apple mus… - Apple Community

Is still an issue these days with 16.2 but with a twist, my stereo HomePods paired to Apple TV 4K non-thread version will not play music for my spouse and she say "something is wrong with your Apple Music - for more info see the home app" (there is no details in the home app also - no message or anything).

I can ask her to play stuff just fine and it's actually my wife's apple family plan for the music. The many other non-stereo and non-TV paired HomePods listen to her just fine.

Maybe this is another bug in the HomeKit architechure upgrade? I did seem to upgrade without issue before the update was pulled?

This issue is pretty sad since it involves paid for apple services that are rendered useless in the bedroom for my wife not being able to ask for some music. Whenever I have made stereo pairs or pair them to TV's it just seems to cause so many bugs immediately. They try and act as one, problems arise and one seems to also drop network connection also on my Unifi network that has no issues with any other HomePod (OG or mini), other voice assistant's and IoT devices work as they should. I really hope more focus is put on HomePod and Home app issues going forward.

Many thanks,

Blake

Topic should also include Apple TV and Apple Music aside from HomePod

My experience with set as default speakers, back when the feature was still available on ATV HD, is that it ties the HomePod completely to the Apple TV. If the TV is off you cannot play music without waking up the ATV. If you want to listen to music, without using the Apple TV at the same time, you need to turn off the default speaker opton. That said I don't have the right hardware at the moment to test the current behaviour.
