Sound fix for OS Ventura

I have installed Ventura, but are having sound problems. The "sound" setting is set to "Earphone" (outwards) and "microphone (inwards). I have Logitech speakers connected and plugged in to the earphone plug. The sound is unintelligible - sound very "Bass" and is just a noise.

Another "Apple" site user advises that update 13.0.1 fixed the problem for him. My Mac indicates that I have all the updates of Ventura.

I never have liked using earphones and do not want to start.

Any advice on how to obtain update 13.0.1 or speakers that will work with Venture would be appreciated.
