Square On iPad Screen

How do I remove the square that just showed up on iPad screen? It is a shortcut to several controls that could be helpful, but it’s always in the way

Might you have set Switch Control?

Use Switch Control on your device to control another Apple device - Apple Support

Settings > Accessibility > Switch Control
