cannot split screen with another window

If you can’t enter Split View

In macOS Ventura or later, choose Apple menu  > System Settings,

click Desktop & Dock in the sidebar, then scroll down on the right

and make sure that “Displays have separate Spaces” is turned on.

In earlier versions of macOS, choose Apple menu  > System

Preferences, click Mission Control, then make sure that “Displays have

separate Spaces” is selected.

If this isolated to your Microsoft Word— I would start there.

Are the two windows in the same Space? Are they both from Word, or one from another application (and which one?

What if you try it in reverse: click and hold green button on the second window and select to put it on the right side, then choose the first one?
