If my husband and I share an Apple ID how do I separate them without erasing one of the phones

If you have iCloud Photos you will lose the photos, so first turn off iCloud Photos and download all the photos to your device via settings>your name>incloud
After that you can log out of your husbands Apple ID via settings>your husbands name>sign out.
And after that you can sign back in with your apple id
