iPadOS Files App Won't Search External Drives

I plugged in an external SSD I have been using with my Xbox console for game clip captures, and although the Files App is reading the drive and the files the search function will not function at all. When I try searching by file type ("Videos") the search function searches the iPad hard drive and iCloud Drive even if I specify to search in the external drive and in the specific folder. When I try searching by file name there are no results at all. This is an issue in the latest update (iPadOS 16.2) just to clarify and rebooting the iPad did not resolve the issue.
