Will 5w charger use reduce battery life of iPhone 14?

The T-mobile rep who sold me my iPhone 14 (with a $20 20W charger) implied that charging it with an old 5W charger "might" reduce battery life. I've heard that Verizon reps are saying the same thing. I get that it takes longer to charge at 5w. But will plugging it in to a 5W charger overnight hurt the battery or shorten battery life of an iPhone 14?

I would like a definitive answer from someone who knows for certain if this is true or false.

No, it won't harm your battery. It will just take longer to charge, as you are aware.

I worked for Verizon for 20 years. When I was there, sales reps were required to sell a certain dollar amount of accessories for every phone sold. I imagine it's still the same and similar for TMobile. They want you to buy more stuff (that has higher markups than the phones).

When I was at Verizon, I believe the "accessory take rate" was about $125. That means, on average, for every phone the sales rep sold, they had to sell $125 in accessories. So, you can see the incentive to imply that you should buy the more expensive item or replace something you already have.

Thanks for the affirmation of what I thought. There are some reasons to use older existing equipment, such as when there are multi-device hubs. For example, I have a double USB-A cube charger under my bed with another device plugged in along with a 6-ft lightning for my phone. No problem charging overnight. I see on Amazon I can replace all my cables, chargers and hubs, and trash all the old stuff, but if it doesn’t hurt the iPhone to do a slow “trickle charge” I would prefer a more deliberate approach.
