gmail not sync'd between iphone and macbook pro

Hello everyone. Several days ago, my MBP and iphone have stopped treating gmail the same. Previously, when I deleted or read an email on either device, the email would be deleted or marked as read on the other. Now, my iphone appears to be functioning properly, but the MBP isn't... If I delete or read on MBP, the iphone updates accordingly. The MBP will not acknowledge what happens on the iphone. So, now I have hundreds of emails which are unread (and possibly undeleted) on the MBP.

I have not made any changes to either device (updates, apps installed, etc). The only potential difference is that I was out of town with the iphone and left MBP home for several days, but I cannot remember if this occurred before I left.

I have quit the apps and restarted both devices and the problem persists.

Any thoughts?

Hi PN11,

Just to confirm, you haven't updated your devices, correct? If that's the case, that would be a great starting point, as updates often include fixes, and this step can often help with overall performance. If needed, the following articles will walk you through how to update your devices. If there are any updates available, be sure to create a backup before updating:

Update macOS on Mac

Update your iPhone or iPad

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Regards.
