iPhone 12 Mini Touch Screen Not Working

The swipe to go home function stoped working as soon as I updated my iPhone Mini to 16.2. There are also a few places on the touchscreen that are unresponsive. Unfortunately, my phone is out of warranty so I have to pay $250 to get the multi-touch display fixed. I am convinced this is a software issue though. Have others had this issue/found a solution?
