I have a couple of airtags, one is on my wife's keys (paired to her iphone and apple ID) and one on my keys (paired to my account and iphone).
If I put either phone into lost mode (with the phone/airtag out of range) and try to identify the found airtag in Find My, it just spins and eventually says it can't find anything.
We are both using an iphone 8.
Ok, looked into this a bit more and found a work around. If you bring up the NFC reader from the control panel and then present the tag it works. I have no idea why the ‘Identify Found Item’ doesn’t access the nfc reader to do the same, and if it doesn’t what is it’s purpose ?
