HomePods don’t want to play music that’s not in your library. Asking them to play music by an artist that’s not in your library results in a message saying “I couldn’t find x in your library”. Even if you have Apple Music. Please research this.

How can we get engineers to fix the issue where HomePods won’t play music from the Apple Music Catalog that’s not in your library? It’s so frustrating. It’s been years and hours if not days of troubleshooting, researching the issue, restoring, and following up.
