FaceTime on Studio Display

Hello, I have a Studio Display connected to a MacBook Air M1 (2020). I'm trying to initiate a FaceTime call with the new display. I usually keep the MacBook in clamshell mode. When I open FaceTime, it only displays black because the MacBook is closed. I have to open it in order to see the party I am calling. The green light on the Studio Display is on but I can't get the FaceTime window onto the bigger display. I'm not one to routinely use dual screens, so is there a way to do FaceTime on the Studio Display with the MacBook in clamshell mode?

The FaceTime Video menu has options for mic, speakers and camera and I selected the Studio Display for all but the camera (not an option). The MacBook needs to be open and it's cumbersome to look into the Studio Display camera and then have to look at the MacBook screen to see the other party. Any thoughts?

This screen shot was taken with the MacBook closed. Selecting the on Studio Display is not an option.

After a series of restarts and assigning the Mic, Speakers and Camera to the Studio Display, I finally have FaceTime working on this bigger display. One frustrating element is that the MacBook Air cannot be in clamshell mode for FaceTime, even though the external display has been assigned this task. I may probe deeper to see if it can be remedied. If anyone else can share thoughts on using FaceTime in a similar setup, let's hear them.

The Center Stage feature of this camera doesn't seem to follow me around like it is touted to do. Not a big deal for me but thought others might like to know. The sound is very impressive and the 5K resolution is amazing. One single Thunderbolt cable does it all.
